Cast Out

One angel fell. The Legion followed.

Kael questioned the Throne, and God backhanded him out of Heaven. He fell for nine days. Now he has to fight his way back up through a legion of angels, and every time he wins, the world breaks a little more.

Cast Out is a short 32-bit-style action platformer. Every sprite, background, sound effect and note of music is generated in code.

Features

  • A cinematic opening: the backhand from Heaven, the fall, and the crash to Earth.
  • 3 levels: Ashen Earth, Cathedral of Embers and Gates of the Legion.
  • 5 boss fights: The Virtue, the bullet-hell Throne of Eyes, the six-winged Seraph Commander, and God himself in two forms.
  • 3 runs: beating God isn't the end. Each run brings harder enemies and new elite angels, and the world falls apart around you: torn skies, crumbling platforms, debris falling from above. Only the third victory reveals the truth.
  • 12 relics: the first thing Kael picks up on Earth is the Scroll of Free Will, the one thing that lets him challenge God. Every boss drops a relic that carries over from run to run: more health, sharper strikes, a faster ultimate, the Omniscience Shield that blocks a hit and then reforms, and more.
  • Choose your look: pick the flame on The First Light (Dawnfire, Holy White, Hellfire or Soulflame) and the color of the Garment of the Void (Abyss, Eclipse, Nebula or Bone King).
  • Swordplay: a 3-hit combo that cuts arrows out of the air, a wing-flap double jump, a glide, and an invulnerable dash.
  • Super attack: the gold meter fills over time and with every hit. When it's full, unleash it to freeze the world and send a wave of light through every enemy on screen.
  • Original soundtrack: drum & bass layered with choir, organ and bells.
  • Settings: music and SFX volume sliders and an optional CRT filter.
